Caring For The Vision

Caring for the vision of your residents is more than a medical responsibility. Good vision enhances quality of life and regular checks can spot potential eye health issues before they become a serious problem.

Under the NHS, everyone is entitled to free eye examinations. Those that are unable to visit an optician unaccompanied due to a physical, mental illness or disability are eligible to receive free NHS eye examinations in their place of residence.

Professional home eyecare at your convenience

Amanda Nasser is the director of McClintock Home Eyecare. A qualified optometrist and dispensing optician with over 30 years’ experience, Amanda is the only optometrist in Moray focussed solely on the provision of domiciliary care, offering full professional eyecare using the latest portable equipment.

Local, caring and professional

Providing services across Moray and Nairn, Amanda has extensive experience within the care home environment and is well known locally for her friendly, yet professional approach, always delivered with kindness and respect.

She works with patients of all ages and varying abilities, including those with verbal impairments, for example following a stroke, or when dealing with dementia.

Understanding your needs, understanding the needs of your residents

Working with your management team, Amanda will effectively plan, deliver and manage all aspects of the ocular health of the residents within your care, from scheduled eye examinations, to dispensing of glasses and provision of low vision aids.

Each resident will be provided with a comprehensive personalised report, detailing the outcome of their eye test, including their prescription and any other findings, eye health advice and a record of the glasses they've chosen.

Training for your staff

Outwith the scheduled appointments, other issues may arise that require professional advice or attention. Your staff and carers are best placed to notice changes in eye health or problems with vision, but would they be able to identify the signs of deteriorating sight, and know when to refer to a professional?

When you engage McClintock as your sole eyecare provider, you will be offered annual staff training in basic eye health, teaching your staff to understand the main causes of preventable sight loss and equipping them to spot the early signs of degenerating vision. Please enquire if this is something you are interested in.

Working alongside others

If you already work with a preferred supplier, McClintock can provide supplementary local support when needed, for example in urgent situations, such as broken glasses or eye infections.
